Co-development of a Healthcare Affairs & Marketing launch plan for a COVID-19 treatment



Project description:


The service is requested as part of Boehringer Ingelheim's efforts to develop therapeutic options to treat or prevent COVID-19 infections and related complications (target indications). The project has the ultimate purpose to enable Boehringer Ingelheim's country affiliates to optimally introduce one of our treatments to their healthcare systems under emergency conditions. More specifically, it will guide country affiliates go-to-market approach towards patients, the public, governments, pandemic response teams/healthcare infrastructure and physicians.


Task description:


The service will entail the following tasks:



-   Independent consolidation of market research, existing internal analyses and publically available data on availability and use of COVID-19 treatments in the target indication to create a Healthcare Affairs & Marketing launch plan, including:


o   Development and delivery of situational analyses, and competitive landscape assessments on market and treatment usage trends


o   Evaluation of key drivers and barriers for beneficial product use and conduct and delivery of SWOT analysis


o   Development and delivery of market definitions, market sizing and stakeholder maps


o   Development and delivery of market segmentation, targeting and positioning approaches for the compound in question


o   Evaluating distribution channels and promotional mix for the launch of the COVID-compound in question based on extensive existing expertise


o   Development and delivery of messaging and marketing materials for country affiliates


o   Development and delivery of engagement plans for the Public, Governments, Health authorities and physicians to optimize appropriate utilization of the COVID-compound in question


o   Development and definition of key issues and Critical Success Factors for the launch of the COVID-compound in question


-based on the above-consolidated data and extensive existing external Marketing / Healthcare Affairs knowledge in terms of presentations


-   All results will be delivered to the BI Marketing lead for the product for review and approval.


-   Consult


o   patient engagement managers on the development of patient journeys from a Marketing / Healthcare Affairs perspective


o   Public Affairs and Communications managers on the development of internal and external communication strategies for the compound in question


-based on approved results of the above analyses and extensive external Marketing / Healthcare Affairs knowledge.




The performance of the contractor has the goal to develop and deliver key-elements of a Healthcare Affairs & Marketing launch plan for a COVID-19 treatment, to inform its overall development, and ultimately allow our country affiliates to make our product available to patients.



Possible timelines to be kept:


The compound in question may already receive emergency use authorization as early as in November 2021. Communication readiness towards the public and governments is already required in the course of March. Key elements of the Healthcare Affairs & Marketing launch plan will be shared with affiliates on a rolling basis, as and when they are available.
