Early Economic Model for Market Access: Therapeutic Area (TA) CardioMetabolism & Respiratory (CMR) Pipeline Indications CKD & Obesity


2.   Project description:

The project "Early Pharmacoeconomic Model for Market Access" has two main objectives:

a.   Test an existing in-house pharmacoeconomic model Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

b.   Manage the development of an early pharmacoeconomic model for Obesity


Project will help generate insights on payer value drivers, evidence needs, in order to inform early pipeline activities and optimize clinical development for payer customers.



a. Early CKD pharmacoeconomic model

  • Independently test the existing in-house pharmacoeconomic model to improve/update the model
  • Test existing model: Identify data or data sources required as economic model input (as defined in the current economic model), either from external publications or inhouse sources as provided by the CKD cross-functional team, to validate and/or optimize the assumptions in the economic model
  • Independently consult BI regarding model refinement, including recommendations on future steps to further advance the economic model, as well as implications for value drivers and pipeline product development
  • Summarize insights generated by the early economic model testing and learnings
  • Conduct desk-research and/or seek input from external experts as needed
  • The findings are to be delivered as a powerpoint report to the BI team


b. Obesity early economic model

  • According to the objectives and requirements pre-defined by the BI Market Access indication lead, coordinate with external vendor and internal project team to develop an early Obesity pharmacoeconomic model for the obesity pipeline assets including:
  • Based on desk research, expert know-how, and discussion with BI Market Access indication lead and external vendor in project meetings, propose the appropriate approach and methodology for the early model
  • Identify data or data sources required as economic model input, either from external publications or from inhouse sources by coordinating/gathering data from the cross-functional team
  • Summarize insights generated by the early economic model and learnings, based on these insights make recommendations on future steps to further advance the economic model, implications for value drivers and pipeline product development. The findings are to be delivered as a powerpoint report to the BI team
